Details of the 3-Day Kibale National Park Safari

Day 1: Journey to Kibale Forest

The adventure starts in the morning after breakfast at your overnight hotel. Driving through Uganda’s green countryside is fun. You’ll stop for lunch and a rest along the way.

After 5 to 6 hours of driving over 317 kilometers from Kampala to Kibale Forest. You will check in at your Kibale lodge inside or outside the park upon arrival. Rest early in preparation for the moderate morning chimp trek.

Day 2: Kibale National Park — Chimpanzee Trekking and Swamp Walk

Chimpanzee searching in Kibale National Park starts early at 7:30 AM. After breakfast, everyone will meet at the park headquarters. They’ll have their permits and trekking gear ready to spot chimpanzees. Chimpanzees are one of the 13 primate species in Kibale.

Other primates in this park include:

  • Mangabey, Colobus monkeys.
  • L’hoest monkeys, Red-tailed monkeys,
  • Olive baboons, vervet monkeys,
  • Blue monkeys, potto, and bush babies.
  • Several other mammals and birds inhabit this natural forest.

Unlike Bwindi gorilla trekking, chimpanzee safaris in Kibale are easy to engage in. This adventurous trek is complete with an afternoon nature walk. The walk is to Bigodi swamp, where you will see animals everywhere.

Bigodi swamp walks start at 7:30 AM and 3:00 PM. The visit usually takes place after lunch at the lodge or with a packed lunch.

Day 3: Departure to Kampala/Entebbe

After breakfast at the lodge, you will head back to Entebbe or Kampala. The return journey includes scenic stopovers at sites like tea plantations.

We also arrange accommodations before and after your safari at an extra cost. This includes lodging, meals, and airport transfers.
