Detailed Safari Itinerary

To Queen Elizabeth: Day 1

An English-speaking driver/guide will pick you up early in the morning, around 6:30 AM. You can have a simple breakfast or pack some snacks. Starting early is a good idea. This way, we won’t waste time. We have a lot to see as we drive to Queen.

The route we will take from Kampala, Mubende, and Fort Portal to Kasese is 372 km and takes about 7 hours. There will be a stop in Fort Portal City for lunch. The countryside is stunning, with mountains, plantations, ranches, lakes, rivers, and welcoming communities.

Scheduled or chartered flights are available from Entebbe or Kajjansi to Kasese. Mweya or Kasese are the airstrips near the park. Our guide will take care of transport to and from the park.

Where to stay during the 3-day Queen Elizabeth National Park safari

Budget and mid-range options include Pumba Safari Cottages. Upmarket accommodation is available at Mweya Safari Lodge.

After arriving at the park around 2 PM, we will visit the Equator. You can choose to check in and rest before the early morning game drive. But since we have a few days and much to explore, we will take an evening game drive. We will also visit Lake Katwe to see birds and learn about traditional salt mining. Dinner is at the lodge.

Game Drive and Kazinga Channel Boat Trip: Day 2

The previous day in Queen was an overview; the real business is on day two. After having breakfast, the guide will take you on an early morning game drive. The importance of waking up early is to see most of the wildlife since animals rise early to feed and graze.

You’ll see lions, leopards, and hyenas hunting in the Kasenyi plains. They hunt elephants, buffalo, topi, Uganda kob, warthog, bushpig, mongoose, hippos, and more. Birds and lakes dominate this most-visited national park in Uganda.

We will return to the lodge for lunch. After the tasty meal, we’ll head to the Mweya Peninsula. There, we’ll board a boat for a tour of the Kazinga Channel. This water channel harbors different animal species, feeding, wallowing, and drinking.

After the boat trip, we’ll go on a quick game drive. Then, we’ll head back to the lodge for dinner and a restful night.

Back to Kampala/Entebbe

In the morning, we will set off to Kampala or Entebbe for your flight back home or overnight stay. You can decide to extend your stay in the park since there is a lot to do that we can’t complete in three days. You need at least five days to explore the entire game park.

We will make a stopover along the way for lunch and souvenir shopping.
